Hershey Park in the Rain - Day 3

September 1st, 2008 Posted in Kids and Family, Travel Destinations you can drive to from New Jersey, Vacation

When we went up to the concierge at the Hershey Lodge on Day 3 to purchase our tickets, it seemed nice outside.  Once we handed over the money, blammo, rain.  We were all a little bummed by that, as we really had only planned on going to the park for 2 days.  Well we decided to make the best of it and drive over to Hershey Chocolate World to start the day and then hope it got nicer.  About thirty minutes after we got to Hershey World everyone else had the same idea.  We decided to give the park a go, and went over to Hershey Park while it was sprinkling.

There was no one at the park.  So we find out unless it starts thundering and lightning most everything is open.  I think the only thing that was closed was Fahrenheit, which was not the worst as we were not going to go on with the kids around.  So we decided to see if the kids would like the Coal Cracker log flume considering they are just 2 and 4 years old.  They loved it, and since there was no line we got to ride it 3 times in a row and could have stayed there all day.  We also went on the run a way train, I believe called, Trailblazer.  There was only a 1 ride wait for that so we went on that twice.  All in all was a great day, yeah we got a little wet, but we got to ride pretty much everything with no line.  The kids did not mind, and only once did my wife try to complain, but alas when you are troopin she was out voted.

We might even make Hershey a yearly trip now, because it is close, the resort is nice and there are a ton of kids rides.  Good vacation overall.
