Bookspot Cutover and Drinking

September 6th, 2008 Posted in website | No Comments »

Im in the middle of the bookspot cutover and Im currently going through a whole lot of rum/cranberry/grape/orange juice.  So if anything is messed up really bad tomorrow, blame the drink.  The forum looked like it went over ok, Im moving the blogs 1 by 1 with mine going first ;)  By tomorrow everything should be in place, just hope nothing breaks.

It has been a lot more work then we originally thought, Noah has been killing on the Art, Mark on the css, Jay on the bully of content factor, and I guess I did a little programming and got everyone together to make it happen.  Yeah us, now come to the site and bring us traffic.

Cross your fingers and let us know what you think about the new site.

Yesterday was a good day, I got my raise and I got my copy of The Pirate King to read from WoTC.  I enjoyed the last book http://www.bookspotcentral.com/2007/10/book-review-the-orc-king/ and am really looking forward to this book as well.

Update:Here is my review of THE PIRATE KING

I have not outgrown Drizzt or the Forgotten Realms as many people like to say they do.  Be prepared for a review on this book as the release date draws near.

Sussex Hills Kennel Club Dog Show

September 1st, 2008 Posted in Australian Shepherds, Kids and Family | No Comments »

I decided this year after we returned from Hershey that we would still need something to do on Labor Day weekend.  So I found out that there was a Dog Show at Mennen Arena in Morristown, and there was a plan.  The only other dog show I had been to was the http://www.philadogshow.com/ so I really did not know what I was in store for.  The thing I liked about the show in Philadelphia was that everything was inside, you had all the breeds in rows inside the stadium where you could walk down the rows and find all of the same breeds of dogs together.

Now the Sussex Hills show was a smaller show so many of the dogs were outside with their breeders in a RV or in cages outside before their time.  It made it difficult to actually see where all the breeds were that you wanted to see.  They should have them setup at least in the same area or have a nice area pre-judging where the public can see the dogs meet some of the breeders and such.  The people at the door were nice, and we met many friendly people inside as well.  My children being 2 and 4 had a tough time staying occupied as we got there a bit early.  I was really going to see the Australian Shepherds, because as you know I have two red - tri Aussies of my own.  I did not see my breeder at this show, but she may have been at the one the next day, I was just not able to attend.  All in all a nice show for the price and my children got to be around some friendly dogs for the day.  I would have liked more time to chat with some of the Aussie owners/breeders/handlers though.  The dog on the left I believe was the best in breed winner for the Aussies, but someone can correct me if I am wrong.  I had this dog picked as the winner from the start, maybe I should start to look into being a judge!  It might also make me think about a getting a black tri at some point, but who knows, I am a sucker for that Red - Tri look.

Hershey Park in the Rain - Day 3

September 1st, 2008 Posted in Kids and Family, Travel Destinations you can drive to from New Jersey, Vacation | No Comments »

When we went up to the concierge at the Hershey Lodge on Day 3 to purchase our tickets, it seemed nice outside.  Once we handed over the money, blammo, rain.  We were all a little bummed by that, as we really had only planned on going to the park for 2 days.  Well we decided to make the best of it and drive over to Hershey Chocolate World to start the day and then hope it got nicer.  About thirty minutes after we got to Hershey World everyone else had the same idea.  We decided to give the park a go, and went over to Hershey Park while it was sprinkling.

There was no one at the park.  So we find out unless it starts thundering and lightning most everything is open.  I think the only thing that was closed was Fahrenheit, which was not the worst as we were not going to go on with the kids around.  So we decided to see if the kids would like the Coal Cracker log flume considering they are just 2 and 4 years old.  They loved it, and since there was no line we got to ride it 3 times in a row and could have stayed there all day.  We also went on the run a way train, I believe called, Trailblazer.  There was only a 1 ride wait for that so we went on that twice.  All in all was a great day, yeah we got a little wet, but we got to ride pretty much everything with no line.  The kids did not mind, and only once did my wife try to complain, but alas when you are troopin she was out voted.

We might even make Hershey a yearly trip now, because it is close, the resort is nice and there are a ton of kids rides.  Good vacation overall.

The Spa at Hershey a short review

August 29th, 2008 Posted in Travel Destinations you can drive to from New Jersey, Vacation | No Comments »

While there will be a final post about our second and third days at the park, this post is about our time at the Spa at Hershey and a quick review.  We made our appointments month ago when we booked our stay at The Hershey Lodge, so I had forgotten what I had signed up for.  My wife signed up for a lomi lomi massage.  She had never had one before and decided it would be something different to try at the spa.  She said her experience was wonderful and it was indeed different from a traditional massage.  A lot of oil, very little drapping, and full long body strokes.  Not for me, but for her she enjoyed it.  I had a 80 minute chocolate oil massage.  The spa definately had more women then men, but that has never bothered me, so off I went to the locker room.  I had to take a shower as I had been at the park all day, and was a very nice setup.  Silly me, forgot to close the shower curtain and robe one went down in a watery mess.  Very noob spa mistake for me.  After the shower off to the Quiet Room.

I must say, The Spa at Hershey has the nicest Quiet Room I have ever been in for a spa.  I was actually gotten very quickly from the room, but Christiana, I hope I am not misspelling her name.  I had a great massage, the oil was nice and she had a very even, medium stroke.   The things I did notice were that the actual massage rooms were very nice, the lighting, the setup and the heated massage tables, all the tops.  The 80 minutes is so much better then 60 and I would recommend it for anyone.  Then back down for a steam in a very large steam room, where I spoke to a fellow from Holland that had just gotten a deep tissue massage.  He was making the trip all around the US for a vacation.  Where is my wife though?  I am out of the massage and waiting in the lobby figuring that since I had 20 minutes longer she would be done already?  Well that was not the case, I sent in someone to flush her out and she was still in the Quiet Room.  I should have waited in there also!  A very nice spa, I would recommend it to everyone going to Hershey.

Hershey Lodge and Hersey Park Day 1

August 28th, 2008 Posted in Kids and Family, Vacation | No Comments »

I write this on day 2 of the vacation morning as I sit outside our room.  Some thoughts.  The ride was not bad, it took us a little over 2 hours to get here from New Jersey.  When we first arrived we found Hershey Lodge was packed.  It is the place to be for families and the children.  I really did not think that would be the case with the price of the rooms, but then as my wife said, a lot of people make Hershey their main vacation for the year.  That being said, I can understand it a bit more.  The Hershey Lodge really caters to families.  They have a childrens activity director as well as three pools, basketball courts, mini golf, crafts, etc…  Our rooms were nice, we got an adjoining room with my Mom as she made the trip with us.  The rooms were nice, and having a place where the children could run around was also good.  Plus 2 bathrooms is always a plus.  We ate at the Hershey Grill last night, they kids were a bit wild, so it was good we arrived a bit early at like 5:30 (early because most people are still at the park).

The park itself was a lot bigger then I thought.  It also had a lot more things for the kids then I would have imagined.  The first ride we went on was Starship America.  Christopher 4.8 went on this with me.  It was a tad bit faster then he thought and while he was a bit scared, there was no crying and all went well.  We then did a bunch of other kiddy rides which both Christopher and Nicholas really enjoyed.  My mother, who is disabled, was able to go on the Kissing Tower ride, which the boys also enjoyed, and she also played with the children over at the Boardwalk water area, while Jocelin and myself went on Tidal Force.  It is the largest log flume I have ever been on.  One thing about Hershey the lines seem to move pretty quick.  We got so wet, that it then was time for us to come back to the Hershey Lodge, get our stuff moved in, eat at the Grill and then the boys called it a night.  My Mom stayed with them and we played a round of mini-golf which I won by only 2 strokes!

For Day 2 we are getting ready for breakfast then off to the Park again, one thing I will say is today we will bring the carriage, and we have to leave the park early as both my wife and myself have massages at the Hershey Spa.

Best ride of day 1 for the kids - Toss up between the Tiny Timbers Log Flume and Mini Pirate

Plasma Car incident - Christopher 4.8

August 26th, 2008 Posted in Kids and Family | No Comments »

So my wife tells me the following story.  After work while I am playing basketball and she is doing laundry, Christopher takes the Plasma Car carries it up the stairs.  He then tells Nicholas:

Watch out Nicholas it’s going to be a bumpy ride

At that point my wife sees him and stops what could only be an emergency room visit the day before our vacation.
