‘Evil Monkeys in the Mist’ - a chat with Jeff Vandermeer

March 31st, 2006 · 1 Comment

I just put up my interview with Jeff Vandermeer over at Fantasybookspot.com, where we talked about zamillion things, like being lost in Ceasar’s city, how you can be in Ambergris, blogging…and oh yeah, his new kick-ass book, Shriek: an afterword.

an afterword

If you’re still one of these ridiculous - self-torture practicing - people who haven’t read his other work, get to it. It’s too late to be cool, but you could be old school, which is like a sub-genre of being cool. If you don’t care about being cool, then be a SF geek, and no self-respecting (or self-loathing - at the Bodhisattva we are about choices) SF Geek, doesn’t own these:

I first read Jeff’s work back in 2002, when on a recommendation from a good friend of mine I bought the Prime edition in hardcover. I know there have been several editions since - is there any material in the current edition that is not in the Prime hardcover or Secret Lives? Because I know the Bantam edition of Veniss Underground contains the shorts from that collection in addition to what was published in Prime’s edition of that book. Just curious if you know more on this.
