Really cool stuff going on at Fantasybookspot.com, here are some of my favorite reads recently:
- We have a new reviewer and Kevin Main (Event) delivered two solid reviews. One was a review of the first volume of Takeshi Obata’s Death Note and the other a look at The Messiah of Morris Avenue by Tony Hendra. Welcome aboard to Kevin!
- Matt D. from Boston (how do you like them apples?) reviews the wonderful collection by Theodora Goss (the poet of record for the next issue of Heliotrope) - In the Forest of Forgetting.
- Brian continues his Mysterybookspot.com rampage with reviews of African Psycho by Alain Mabanckou, Ammunition by Ken Bruen, and the Concrete Maze by Steven Torres.
- Maria joins in the Mysterbookspot.com takeover with reviews of Killing Floor by Lee Child and Grave Surprise by Charlaine Harris.
And if you missed it when I first linked it you need to read Brian’s article Black Crime Fiction: An Introduction. It’s a damn nice piece.
Speaking of mystery, I was reminded of this at another forum. Has everybody read Paul Auster’s graphic novel adaptation to City of Glass? You need to - Karasik and Mazzucchelli are sublime!
- Don’t forget The Lies of Locke Lamora book club discussion continues. Don’t miss on talking about such a sweet book and chance to win a signed copy of Red Seas Under Red Skies (my review here) by participating!
There is also a super (duper?) secret project in the works*.
On a completely unrelated note we at FBS want to say we love Elizabeth Hand and thanks!
Once again thanks to all the contributors - whether you review for us, are a member of the community, lurk, or just try to sponge free books at of our contests. We also like to thank the haters - it gives me and Damon something to talk about while we remain 10 steps ahead.
