I just put up my interview with the author of the Malazan Book of the Fallen sequence and all around kick ass writer, Steven Erikson. I’m not really sure what else need to be added to that - the guy is pimp and this is a nice extension to the interview I conducted with Ian Cameron Esslemont last month.
I guess I should note that it is not in my interview ’style’ to cover the most recent or forthcoming book. I don’t interview authors every time they write a book (for my own sanity - and that sounds a lot like a job) so I tend to cover basically shit I want to talk about if they are an author - like Erikson - who is deep into a large series.
At any rate big thanks to Steve and R. Scott Bakker (I’m not dropping the ‘R’ bro) for this and I hope you enjoy. This has been a real pleasure because I sincerely admire what his work has done for a lot of elements that people didn’t know what to do with anymore and were really just going through the motions with.

Excellent interview!! I loved his response to your very first question even though the difference between Gardens and the following novels has been discussed to death!!
I should endeavour to take the reader by the hand, gently, even when my ultimate intention was the drag that reader into hell.
I like being dragged into hell >)

Yes, I hear hell is nice this time of year!
Yes one of the questions we always see is the GotM transition to DG, however most of the time I see it from a fan perspective who while getting it write always seems quit mechanical as they become bastardized versions of each after a few years and I was glad Steve was able to put it down perfectly as Garden of the remains on of the series kick-offs that gets very extreme reaction pro or con.
Thanks for reading!
