Weekly roundup for the lazy..err dedicated Bodhisattva window users to all this bookspot:
-Heliotrope:
The contributors list for the next issue has been announced:
K.J. Bishop
Hal Duncan
Neil Gaiman
Rhys Hughes
Paul S. Kemp
Chris Roberson
Bryan Talbot
Catherynne M. Valente
Jeff VanderMeer
We think they’re pretty good.
I have thrown out feelers for art and my birdies tell me one more contributor may be added. Hopefully I will have another announcement next week or the week after announcing another legend (and I mean a legend) into the Helio fold.
-Critical:
Brian Lindenmuth gives us Post Mortem: Uncovering the Real Ending of the 50/50 Killer by Steve Mosby. Good stuff, even though I’m not familiar with the source material. If any more people want to do stuff like this at a site that actually gets traffic - let me know! I have no problems cross-posting if it’s really good stuff or even reprinting stuff from printed material (I’m pursuing some avenues with this).
-Free Books:
A chance to win one of three copies of Escapement signed by Jay Lake. Get to it!.
For the love of Costanza, don’t enter if you don’t check to see if you win. This is going to cause a slight requirement change if it continues.
-Exclusives:
We have the exclusive from the Stoker award winning Tim Lebbon, a story entitled Falling off the World that will be part of a forthcoming anthology, the Second Humdrumming Book of Horrors (read that here)
More coming this week and beyond.
-Reviews:
- Matt Denault reviews The Man on the Ceiling by Christoper Gibbs.
Everything we’re going to tell you here is true.
- Neth reviews A Magic of Twilight by S.L. Farrell.
A Magic of Twilight presents a familiar fantasy epic steeped in Machiavellian politics in a Renaissance world that should appeal to fans the genre while providing an entertaining and addicting read.
- Comic book novels I find bewildering, but Dragonwomant reviews Dave Stern’s Wolverine: Nature of the Beast.
- Val continues to offer content for old heads with a review of Adiamante by L.E. Modesitt. He also reviews Eye, short fiction sweetness from Frank Herbert.
- Another comic book name, Peter David, has a novel called Tigerheart and it’s reviewed by Roxy.
Young Paul Dear stared at his reflection one evening for a very long time. When his reflection began talking back to him, Paul began to think that perhaps he himself was actually The Boy of Legend.
-The Tomio:
My interview with Steven Erikson will be up today or tomorrow, I have more exclusives for you and a couple of reviews!
Thanks all, I hope everyone enjoys!
