Today I have an excerpt from forthcoming work from one of my favorite writers.  When you want to talk about writers that seamlessly go back and forth from short fiction to novels and consistently deliver at the highest levels MacLeod is on that short list of writers we are talking about and in my mind if you look at his actual published collections - this a writer who could claim to have the least amount of ‘filler’ material than anybody else out there. MacLeod is a multiple World Fantasy Award winner, a Sidewise Winner and a Locus Award Winner (before the fix era*) and has garnered multiple nominations for the Nebula and Hugo. Plus, we are talking a Heliotrope contributor, so you know this guy is official.
