I’ve kind of stopped doing these promos for non-bookspot related stuff but I’m so incredibly jealous of any group of people who are putting out a Comic book related magazine on their own coin, I feel like it deserves a mention. I already made a mistake, as it isn’t Comic-related, it is about Comics, which is refreshing as former stalwarts (or less than) have fallen to US Magazine status (it’s not too late Shamus - get at me, I’ve got a bullpen of real talent ready to go - you know, real writers). In a moment of putting myself out there I really wanted to contribute to this publication but ended up amongst slush-pile no replies, but at the Bodhisattva we hold no grudges, I merely took it out on Heliotrope submitters and spent nights binging on Edouard Pernod and Miller High Life (extremes people, X-tremes), questioning my self-worth, talking to the empty chair across from me and according to eyewitnesses calling it Nevermore or at times Mentallo, but no, no grudges, and if there were they had to be put to away at the majesty of the Buzz. Not buzz -this is not one of those blogs - but Buzz:
That’s the cover to the forthcoming third issue by Buzz! I hope these dudes put out their first issue online, it would seem the sensible thing to do, but I’m not sure how the legalities are concerning contributor’s content and how it may relate to contracts but if you’re a comic fan go into your LCS and ask about it and see if they will stock it. If you don’t dig it, hey, you spent money you would have spent on some lame comic(s) you know you’re tired off and should have dropped anyway. If it does strike a cord though, if it does pick up the wand dropped by other publications, you’re adding a new tradition to your pull-box. You can even scoop the first issue of Comics NOW! on Amazon, completist.
Now, why pimp this? The internet allows for opportunities; we see them aspired to and fail every day, but these guys behind this are the kinds of people I look at and see saying power, they aren’t just trying to get theirs, they have given as much or more as they take and as a junior executive future mogul and E-Daimyo I recognize game. Some people are fans, just fans, and that’s a beautiful thing in itself - but these guys are players.
I post not because I care, but because I’m jealous. I post because I want competition when D&D and myself decide to do one ourselves.
