I just posted the table of contents for the next issue of Heliotrope.
I had this whole write-up on it I was going to post, but then I realized I was retyping my editorial and I’m just not creative enough to write about something twice and have something original to say. This would be a surprise [...]

I know I’m supposed to be too cool to be excited about something as juvenile as blurbage, and Fantasybookpot.com has been lucky enough to be thrown on more than a few sweet books before now but damn it when you bust use your spare time to bust ass to build something it really is [...]

Black Gate Reviews Heliotrope…
December 5th, 2006 · No Comments
…and
David Soyka reviews the first issue (Issue#2 will be out in January) of Heliotrope at Black Gate.
It’s not everyday that you get your forum sig quoted (which I boosted from an interview of M. John Harrison) - and I’m simple enough for this to make my day.
Good stuff!

A Couple of Heliotrope Reviews
September 29th, 2006 · 1 Comment
Very Cool, Samantha Henderson dropped me a line to let me know a couple of Heliotrope reviews are out. One positive, one negative, both very much appreciated. Thanks to IROSF and Tangent, two frequent E-stops of mine, and specifically to Lois Tilton and Yael Artom the reviewers.
Note, these are reviews of the short [...]

Update of my last Update…

Damon tells me the print versions of Heliotrope are ready to go and, “that they look hot.” I haven’t seen them myself, but I’ll take his word for it (although he doesn’t like Robotech so his understanding of what is hot may be questionable). Contributors should expect their copy soon and others can [...]

So you should not be reading this (without doubt not the only reason you shouldn’t be reading this blog ) as by now you should either be a day into reading Shriek: An Afterword or on the way to the store to procure it, and if you have been extremely slack you are [...]

I loved Light, and I mentioned some time ago M. John Harrison’s forthcoming Nova Swing.\par

I was doing some surfing and saw that Harrison’s site was updated with more information (well at least more than I was aware of) on the release that included an excerpt from Nova Swing.\par

Night Shade Sale
June 6th, 2006 · No Comments
Was reading the good old (not really old) Night Shade newsletter today and apparently they have a sale going on until June 12th where if you buy 3 or more books you get 40% off.
Seems like they also have a lot of hot books coming out like Elizabeth Bear’s The Chains That You Refuse, Jay [...]

So if you’re an artist, a friend of an artist, like art, have ever even seen John Picacio, or have aspirations of being the the next Martin Lake or Piero [...]

A Disturbance in the Force

I want to note that recently I read a pretty damn good Star Wars novel, which is no common occurrence. Now, I am a defiant fan of Star Wars, although not one totally absent of common sense or decency because of it. My reading of Star Wars novels is more of a quest [...]
