Please note that’s I’ve moved to my new blog:  http://www.i.popwicked.com/

The Bodhisattva is the personal blog of Jay Tomio, the co-owner of BSCreview (formerly BookSpot Central/Fantasybookspot.com). Since 2004 BSC has striven to locate and recognize boundaries for the purpose to learn how to best ignore them. With relationships with essentially ever publisher of speculative fiction in the U.S. and U.K, and recently expanding to being a venue supplied with DVDs, comic books, and graphic novel; BSC is armed for the adventure as the spot online for reviews, columns, articles, and interviews by, about, and with some of the most talented people those fields have to offer.

BSC covers fiction with a focus on speculative fiction in all media: books, DVDs, film, television and the sequential art forms.  Supplied and enabled by essentially every publisher in the industry (in the U.S. and U.K.), BSC strives to share opinions on books from publishers and studios big and small, mainstream and niche. BSC also hosts exclusive content in the form of sample chapters from forthcoming novels or complete stories from collections or anthologies. Along with this, we constantly host several contests each month for our readers to win free new books straight from the publisher and often signed by the author.

Among, but not all the publishers BSC is proud to have relationships with are Random House (which includes branches like Del Rey, Ballantine, and Bantam), Tor, Marvel Comics, Orbit, Orbit UK, Pan Macmillan, Simon and Schuster, Wizards of the Coast, Night Shade Books, Prime Books, Small Beer Press, ACE, Penguin, Transworld (Bantam UK), PS Publishing, Golden Gryphon Press, Pocket Books, DAW, AIO, Tachyon, PYR, Solaris Books, The Black Library, Baen, Overlook Press, MonkeyBrain Books, Norilana Books, Five Senses Press, Soft Skull press, St. Martin’s Press, Bleak House Press, Raw Dog Screaming Press and more, with more being added daily. We regularly host exclusive excerpts from several of these publishers.

We also have extended our reach into the DVD and film  market establishing relationships that will allow us to be a venue for reviews of films from studios like Disney, Paramount, and Fox.

We publish Heliotrope, an online publication that features fiction and non-fiction from several contributors, many of whom are award winning, critically acclaimed novelists, poets, and short fiction writers.

If any author, publisher, editor, director,  producer, actor/actress,artisit, or press would like to contact me, please do so at Heliotropeditor@gmail.com. If it is book related, is likely I already have the book or can get it via my own channels - so if you have something that you think deserves special attention amidst the pile, drop me a line. I do not review self-published material as it pertains to novels - though I welcome comics or graphic novels that are independently produced.

Currently I am editing Heliotrope Magazine that features articles, reviews, and short fiction - for more details - click here - to read about submission guidelines, pay rates and advertising information. We have our first four issues out, and our fifth is scheduled for Fall 2008. We pay professional rates and have been blessed by contributors that include critically acclaimed, award winning, and bestselling writers such as Neil Gaiman, Jeff VanderMeer, R. Scott Bakker, Michael Moorcock, Jeffrey Ford, Theodora Goss, Sonya Taaffe, Catherynne M. Valente, Ian R. MacLeod, Bryan Talbot, Rhys Hughes, Lou Anders, Chris Roberson, Paul S. Kemp, Hal Duncan, and Anna Tambour among others.

You can read the interviews I have conducted here, and my reviews here.

Thanks,

Jay Tomio
