Fans of the previous two books shouldn't be disappointed with the conclusion of the series.
Titans of Chaos concludes the Chronicles of Chaos trilogy.
The five orphans Amelia, Victor, Vanity, Colin and Quentin have finally escaped from captivity, fleeing across the known world, the dream world and the farthest reaches of the universe. With a brief respite to polish their diverse talents, they plunge into a web of intrigue between the various gods, playing all sides against one another to ensure their own survival as they contend with the agents of an unidentified antagonist.
As if to make up for the slow pace of the previous book, Titans of Chaos picks up the pace considerably with chases, battles and involuted machinations, though of course the complex powers utilized by the orphans are depicted in great detail.
In particular, it was nice to see the gods take a strong role again in this book since they had more or less faded into the background in Fugitives of Chaos, as well as Wright's inventive depiction of them that worked so well in Orphans of Chaos.
The conclusion of the book, while open-ended, is satisfying and manages to tie up the loose ends except for one minor issue which wasn't quite clear. Needless to say, fans of the previous two books shouldn't be disappointed. Definitely one of the best fantasy trilogies I've read in quite some time. Wright may have followed in the footsteps of Neil Gaiman with his approach to mythology, but his accomplishment here is no less for it.
Note: Titans of Chaos will be officially released on April 17, 2007.
