Master Inquisitor’s continue their plan to eliminate witches from the world and any power females may hold, with their ultimate goal to destroy the wellspring of magic in the Mother’s Hill.
The Hunter, Ashk, begins her journey with the Muse, the Bard and the Gatherer of Souls to convince the Fae that they must stand with the witches against the Inquisitor’s.
Meanwhile the power of the Lady of the Moon is waning and a new strength steps forward to take the role and become the new Huntress. This new power half Fae and half Witch, from the Mother Hill. The witches from the Mother Hill are an ancient, powerful group who finally heed the threat of the Inquisitor’s, and who wheals a power far beyond any one else.
Personal Thoughts – this is the final instalment in this series and hence some ongoing storylines were concluded. The reader finds out the origins of the Fae, especially the Hunter and the Huntress who both share the same animal form, shadow hounds. Bishop isn’t afraid to hurt some of our favourite characters, so during the final battles the reader can never be sure who will be lost. Once again, I felt the Inquisitors were shrouded, though at least their origins are revealed. The Master Inquisitor looks even more deranged than in previous books. The Hunter and the Huntress are the most interesting characters in this book. And despite the plotline focusing mostly on the battles between the Fae, witch coalition and their enemy The Inquisitors, there is still room for personal relationships to develop. I would have preferred the Huntress – Lady of the Moon to have been introduced in book 2, as I didn’t feel there was enough time in this final book to really understand this character. And I personally found it difficult to see the power of the Witches of the Hill to be so awesome. However, as always I really like this author's writing style. For me she creates interesting and entertaining stories that quickly pull you in and overall Ive really enjoyed this series.
